Bollywood star Alia Bhatt recently penned a heartfelt birthday post for her mother, veteran actress Soni Razdan.
On Saturday, Alia shared two beautiful photos on Instagram. The pictures perfectly captured the love between the mother-daughter duo. In the first, Soni is wrapping Alia in a tight loving hug. In the second, the two are laughing together during what looks like a cozy dinner night.

Along with the pictures, Alia wrote a simple yet touching caption: “Happy bday mama birdie. You are our whole universe and you light it up every… single… day.”

Soni Razdan has always been more than just “Alia’s mom”. A talented actress and filmmaker in her own right, she has left her mark across films, theatre, and television. Born in Birmingham to a Kashmiri Pandit father and a British-German mother Soni moved to India at a young age. In India, she graduated from Mumbai’s Elphinstone College. Then she began her artistic journey on stage before making her name on television with shows like ‘Buniyaad’ and ‘Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum.’
Her film career boasts an impressive range from acclaimed art-house dramas like ’36 Chowringhee Lane’ and ‘Mandi’. And the range goes up to emotional performances in ‘Saaransh’ and ‘Khamosh’.
More recently, she appeared in ‘Raazi’ alongside her daughter Alia. Another recent role was in the heartfelt film ‘Yours Truly’. She also explored the digital space with the series ‘Call My Agent: Bollywood’. Her latest performance in ‘Songs of Paradise’ saw her playing the legendary Kashmiri singer Raj Begum.
